Germany’s Sport1+ renews rights to NASCAR and Supercars motor series

German pay TV channel Sport1+ has renewed its broadcast partnership with US racing series NASCAR until 2024, following a deal with IMG. At the same time, the dedicated sports channel has also extended rights to Australia’s Supercars until 2024.

Under the terms of the new NASCAR deal, Sport1+ will continue to air every round of the NASCAR Cup Series – as well as the season opening invitational and the All-Star Race. In addition, however, some live races will be shown on Motorvision.TV via a sub-licensing agreement. The new NASCAR season launches on February 6, with the Busch Light Clash curtain raiser, followed soon after by Daytona 500 (Feb 19).

The deal with Supercars is similar, with Sport1+ showing a wide range of coverage, but sub-licensing some races to Motorvision. The new season starts in March.

Sport1+ is the PayTV arm of Sport1 Media, which also runs free to air channel Sport1. Formerly known as DSF (until 2010), Sport1 focuses more on soccer, basketball, darts and handball. In October 2022, it secured a package of rights to Women’s Bundesliga – running until the 2026/27 season. It also recently launched an app for smart TVs.
