VodafoneZiggo secures ATP Tour rights

Dutch service provider VodafoneZiggo’s Ziggo Sport unit has secured the TV rights to ATP Tour tennis for the next three years.

The exclusive deal means that the ATP Tour will remain with Ziggo until 2026, following the planned expiry of its existing deal next year.

The extension of the exclusive deal will boost Ziggo Sport’s tennis portfolio. The VodafoneZiggo unit also holds rights to the ABN Amro Open for next year and this weekend Ziggo Sport will broadcast the final of the NK Tennis competition on TV , followed by the World Tennis League on Monday.

The ATP deal will mean that Ziggo Sport subscribers will be able to watch all nine ATP 1000 tennis tournaments, including Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, Rome and Paris. The line-up will also feature the ATP Finals featuring the eight best players and doubles teams of the ATP Tour in November.

Ziggo Sport will also feature all 13 ATP 500 tournaments, 34 ATP 25 tournaments and the weekly behind the scenes programme ATP World Tour Uncovered.

Marcel Beerthuizen, managing director of Ziggo Sport, said: “Tennis is one of the most popular sports in the Netherlands. That is why, as the largest sports channel in the Netherlands, we broadcast a lot of live tennis and one of our six channels is actually completely dedicated to tennis and padel. With the new exclusive television contract with ATP, millions of households are assured of another three seasons of top tennis.”
