VodafoneZiggo’s Ziggo Sport takes Champions League, Europa League rights

Dutch service provider VodafoneZiggo’s sport TV unit Ziggo Sport has acquired the exclusive 2024-27 media rights to UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League football.

Starting in the 2024-25 football season, VodafoneZiggo said that the acquisition will bring the most important European club competitions under one roof for the first time. All the competitions and highlights will be available exclusively on Ziggo Sport.

The agreements with UEFA are valid for three seasons: from mid-2024 to mid-2027.

Ziggo Sport said it will be further developing its programming in the coming months.

Everyone in the Netherlands will be able to stream all of the football matches played by the participating Dutch clubs free via the Ziggo GO app. Ziggo customers will also be able to watch the most important matches on channel 14 of their TV service.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Marcel Beerthuizen, Director of Ziggo Sport, said: “This is an important step for Ziggo Sport. We believe the best sports content belongs on the biggest Dutch sports channel. Our track record, long-standing partnership with UEFA and love of football means that from now on, you can tune in to Ziggo Sport for UEFA club football.

Jeroen Hoencamp, CEO of VodafoneZiggo, said: “VodafoneZiggo always wants to offer customers the best viewing experience and the best entertainment. Ziggo Sport has been distinguishing itself from competitors for years in the way we bring sports to every living room. It’s only natural that international football is part of that, including UEFA club football. The sports channel is thus a vital part of our content strategy.”
