DAZN renews Golden Boy boxing deal

Sports streamer DAZN has announced a multi-year partnership with boxing promoter Golden Boy.

This five-year global deal is an extension of partnership originally started in 2018, when DAZN beat HBO for Golden Boy’s rights.

The new deal will see DAZN broadcast championship fight nights along with a new monthly boxing series dubbed Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN which it said would showcase the best in up-and-coming boxing talent.

DAZN said that it will also broadcast fights featuring fighters including Jaime Munguia, Ryan Garcia, and Vergil Ortiz, Jr. in the coming months.

Ed Breeze, EVP Rights, DAZN, said: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Golden Boy. Golden Boy has an excellent stable including some of the hottest prospects in boxing, and their shows always feature non-stop action from the first bell to the last. As part of our new partnership we will be looking to unearth the next generation of boxing talent in our new development series ‘Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN’.”

This latest deal solidifies DAZN’s global offering which (outside of its core markets such as Germany and Italy) is mostly made up of boxing and combat sports. The Golden Boy deal serves to complement a five-year deal that DAZN secured with Matchroom Boxing in 2021, which is estimated to be worth nine figures.
