BBC iPlayer lands on PS5

The BBC has brought its iPlayer streaming app to Sony’s PlayStation 5 games console.

The app joins more than 15,000 devices where BBC iPlayer is already available.

PS5 owners can add the BBC iPlayer app by going to the Media tab on the PS5 home screen and selecting BBC iPlayer from the All Apps section. This will add BBC iPlayer to the apps library and make it available to use directly from the PlayStation home screen.

The app launches on the platform ahead of the busy Christmas period where viewers will be able to watch series including Stephen Merchant’s The Outlaws, Doctor Who: Flux and Sir David Attenborough’s latest documentary series The Mating Game.

Viewers on PS5 will also be able to stream in Ultra HD, assuming their TV is UHD-capable.

The launch comes after the broadcaster launched a dramatic visual overhaul to the iPlayer app on TVs in an effort to modernise the streamer.
