Infront offers to fill Serie A media rights value gap

Sports marketing firm Infront Italy has offered to plug the gap in Serie A’s media rights revenues during the current cycle in exchange for becoming the league’s exclusive domestic and international media rights distributor through to 2030.

Media rights took a nosedive across Europe as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and Italy was no different.

However, Infront has sent a letter to the league offering to pay the difference between what the clubs received for their international rights from 2018-21 and what they will receive in the current cycle.

The offer is based on the condition that Seria A agrees to make Infront its exclusive media rights partner for two rights cycles from 2024/25 through to 2029/30. This would charge Infront with the distribution of domestic and international media rights, along with betting rights and wider work with the league.

Infront’s offer is looking to supersede the stalled deal to sell a 10% stake in a new media rights business to CVC Media Partners.

Serie A’s next general assembly meeting is set for October 19, with the ongoing MENA rights issue currently on the agenda.
