Vevo launches Pop linear channel in UK on Samsung TV Plus

Music video network Vevo has launched its linear channel Vevo Pop on Samsung TV Plus in the UK.

The channel features pop-genre music videos, and builds on Vevo’s momentum and expansion into the UK market.

Samsung and Vevo first partnered in the US in 2019, and this expansion marks the next step in an ongoing partnership that will see further European launches in the coming year.

The Samsung TV Plus app is pre-installed on all Samsung Smart TVs from 2016 onwards and offers users access to an increasing number of channels ranging across news, sports and entertainment.

Richard Jakeman, European head of business development – smart TV, Samsung Electronics, said: “Samsung TV Plus is committed to bringing its viewers a diverse array of quality content and we continually expand our offering with the help of our trusted partners. With their vast, premium library featuring world-renowned artists and top hits, Vevo are the music video curators, and extending our partnership with them outside of the US was the logical next step given the success of their channels in the US to date. Through Vevo we are excited to now provide a linear lean-back music video viewing experience to more households in the UK.”

Kevin McGurn, president of sales and distribution, Vevo, said: “In the US, we partnered with Samsung TV Plus during the early days of our OTT expansion. Today, they are one of our top performing television experiences, with tens of millions of viewers across Vevo channels daily. We are excited to build on this success and do the same in the UK and Europe, but with more localized curation.

“Samsung TV Plus has become one of the most popular OTT streaming services worldwide. Our partnership will deliver music videos directly into living rooms throughout the UK for fans of every artist and genre.”
