Cirkus extends German presence with Waipu.tv deal

‘Best of British’ SVOD service Cirkus has extended its reach in the German-speaking area by striking a deal with streaming platform Waipu.tv.

From the end of this month, Cirkus’s series will be available in Waipu.tv’s Perfect package without any additional charge, as the latter expands its VOD offering.

Waipu.tv has two million registered customers across Germany. The service is owned by Exaring, which provides fibre-based distribuition of media across the country.

The Waipu.tv Perfect package includes around 130 channels, of which over 100 are in HD.

“We have been following the positive development of waipu.tv with interest since the start four years ago,” said the two Cirkus founders and managing directors Mark Bradford and Hugh Williams. “We were particularly impressed by how waipu.tv has developed a substantial customer base with technological and content innovations in such a short time. We are pleased that we are now part of their Perfect Package, which combines traditional linear TV channels with innovative new on-demand services such as Cirkus.”

“We are delighted to be able to offer our Perfect customers with the Cirkus content high-quality, exciting crime and drama series on demand. For us, this is an important and consistent step towards the development of waipu.tv to become the ‘Home of Entertainment’: a platform that offers free TV, pay TV and on-demand content from a single source and quite simply entertainment for the whole family into the living room at home. High quality, intuitive, transparent and without cable clutter,” said Exaring board member Markus Hartenstein.
