BeIN Sports Xtra joins Xumo TV lineup

BeIN Sports has continued the expansion of its free-to-air channel, beIN Sports Xtra, with the announcement of availability on Xumo TV.

The channel will initially launch on Xumo TV in the US before being made available in Canada. Joining a growing list of over 190 channels, beIN Sports Xtra will be available in 45 million US households, the company said.

The channel initially launched in November 2019 on the Roku Channel, utilising beIN’s existing English and Spanish feed to drive awareness of the brand and content “that would otherwise be crowded out of the live premiere window given the extensive rights offering in the US.”

Antonio Briceño, beIN Sports deputy managing director for North America, said:”We are excited with the response received from fans and viewers upon launching beIN SPORTS Xtra in November 2019, and are even more thrilled to now announce the joining of forces with popular Xumo TV.

“Adding beIN Sports XTRA to free streaming television services like Xumo gives sports fans everywhere enhanced access to our world-class content, and we look forward to a successful ongoing partnership with the Xumo team.”

Stefan Van Engen, SVP of content partnerships and programming at Xumo, said: “Sports programming is especially popular with Xumo viewers, and beIN Sports Xtra is providing premium, live content from nearly a dozen different sports categories. We’re pleased to add this exciting new channel to our growing lineup.”

This news comes shortly after beIN announced a similar deal to make the channel available on Samsung TV Plus.
