Cyfrowy Polsat boosted by multi-play and contract services growth

Polish pay TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat was boosted by solid growth of multi-play customers and contract services in the second quarter.

The group saw its multi-play base rise by 15% year-on-year to 1.9 million, or 34% of its overall contract customer base. The number of revenue-generating units counted by the operator rose to 5.71 millin, with churn down 1.3 percentage points to 7% per annum.

The number of contract service delivered by the operator rose by 522,000 to 14.45 million year-on-year.

Pay TV contract services were up 31,000 to 5.1 million. Mobile servies were up by 499,000 to 7.6 million as a result of multiplay sales, t4he appeal of mobile unit Plus’s straightforward tariffs and increased B2B sales.

Cyfrowy Polsat reported a stable base of 5.7 million contract customers at the end of June., with each customer now using an average of 2.56 services. ARPU for contract cutovers was up 0.6% to PLN83.40.

The company also reported a stable prepaid base of 2.6 million.

On the TV channels side, Polsat TV advertising revenues were up 1.1% to PLN325 million, giving the group a market share of 27.2%.

Cyfrowy Polsat had 17.059 million post-paid and prepaid revenue-generating units as of June, up 2.2%, with contract services up 3.7% to 14.452 million.

Pay TV customers numbered 5.059 million at the end of June, up 0.6%, including 1.174 multiroom subs, up 4.1%.

Cyfrowy Polsat last month launched a new OTT TV offering that is available to all consumers irrespective of their network provider.The new Evobox Stream offering enables users to choose from up to nine packages without any long-term commitment and the ability to cancel after 30 days. However the pay TV operator did not break out numbers for this service in its latest results.

“Consistent pursuit of our multiplay strategy has once again given us very good results. The number of contract services that we provide to our customers increased by half a million, 1.9 million of our customers use multiplay offers while the churn ratio decreased once again to a record-low level of only 7% annually,” said Mirosław Błaszczyk, the CEO of Cyfrowy Polsat and Polkomtel.

“We have expanded our premium sports offer, while offering access to the maximum numbers of tournaments, sports and live coverage from major events. Thanks to the cooperation that we have established with Canal+, apart from being able to follow the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League matches, our viewers have also gained access, via the new Canal+ Sport 3 and Canal+ Sport 4 channels, to all the matches played in the Polish PKO Ekstraklasa football premiership.”
