Spanish broadcaster and producer Mediapro has struck a deal with YouTube to distribute coverage of this year’s Pan-American Games from Lima, Peru, on the video-sharing platform.
Mediapro is now airing live coverage of the games via its YouTube channel. The group said that its coverage ot the competition, which runs until August 11, has so far accumulated over 200,000 impressions and 400,000 minutes of watch time, with viewership n Spain, Italy, the UK, Japan and Australia particularly high.
The Peruvian Olympic Committee gave the YouTube rights to Mediapro, which has been contracted to provide video coverage of the games. Since 2012 Mediapro has been responsible for the production of the YouTube channels of Spanish top-tier football league La Liga and has also streamed coverage of the UEFA Champions Leeague, Spain’s Copa del Rey and the Brazilian Brasilerao.
The Pan-American Games brings together some 6,000 athletes competing in 39 different sports and 62 individual disciplines. The Mediapro channel is available in over 150 countries globally.
