Firework social video app goes live

Loop Now Technologies, a company founded by early members of LinkedIn and Snapchat, has officially launched its short-form video app Firework on iOS and Android.

Billed as ‘the future of social mobile TV’, Firework is a video service that lets users post and share clips of up to 30 seconds.

The formal launch brings with it a number of new features, including Firework’s patent-pending Reveal camera technology that lets users move their phone from horizontal to vertical to reveal more of a video.

Firework’s intelligent discovery engine uses machine-learning to provide users with content that is personalised to their interests. The service also uses AI to filter out unsafe and unwanted content, with the help of human moderators.

Creators can collect and repost videos on Firework and the app offers person-to-person direct messaging instead of an anonymous comments section. Users are also encouraged to participate in sponsored hashtags for a chance to win cash prizes.

The service was previously in beta and Loop Now claims Firework was the fastest social media app to achieve one million users, doing so in five months and growing more than 200% quarter-over-quarter.
