Netflix has appointed Facebook’s vice-president of communications, Rachel Whetstone, as its chief communications officer.
“Her deep knowledge and international expertise will be invaluable as we bring Netflix and its expanding line-up of original content to an increasingly global audience.”
Before joining Facebook last year, Whetstone was senior vice president of communications and public policy at Uber for two years from 2015.
Prior to that she held the same role at Google from 2010 to 2015, having first joined the search giant in London in 2005.
Whetstone started out as a political advisor in the UK, advising then-home secretary Michael Howard, before joining moving into PR and the private sector. She is a graduate of Bristol University.
“I’m so excited to be joining Netflix and being part of this amazing company’s story,” she said.
