Free signs up for TF1 4K ahead of World Cup

French broadcaster TF1 will make 28 matches from the FIFA World Cup in Russia available in 4K UHD on a new TF1 4K channel via Iliad Telecom/Free’s Freebox Mini 4K, according to the service provider.

TF1’s agreement to distribute the 4K channel on Free follows similar deals with Altice France and Bouygues Telecom.
Orange, with which TF1 signed a distribution deal for its channels in March, indicated at the time that it would carry TF1 4K UHD content without giving precise details.

Free will make the channel available to Freebox Mini 4K customers connected to its fibre network who have signed up to the Mini 4K package, Freebox Revolution with TV by Canal Panorama subscribers and Freebox Revolution subscribers with the multi-TV Mini 4K option. TF1 4K will be available on channel 101 of the operator’s guide.

In addition to World Cup coverage, kicking off with the match between Russia and Saudi Arabia in June 14, TF1 4K will also air coverage of the French, Belgian and Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix motor races between June and September.
