Endemol Shine’s Chinese arm has struck a co-development deal with Alibaba Digital Media-onwed video hosting and streaming platform Youku to produce two big-budget non-scripted shows for the Chinese market this year.
Endemol Shine will bring its content creation expertise and handle development, pilot and production consultancy, distribution and technology support.
Youku will provide audience data analysis thanks to is audience research system. The company’s plaform is designed to enable users to search, view and share content across multiple devices.

Weidong Yang, President of Youku, Alibaba Digital Media and Entertainment Group, said, “Gone are the days where digital entertainment shows rely on imitating traditional linear channel shows. Digital entertainment shows will be the new engines of industry creativity.”
