YouTube has announced live streaming functionality that will introduce new ways for viewers to watch live videos and for content creators to interact with their community of fans.
Live streamers can now add a location tag to mobile live streams and viewers can explore other videos shot in the same place by clicking on the tag.
A live chat replay function means that chat comments will show up alongside a video as they did in real time, even when that video stream is over and being replayed.
YouTube is also introducing English automatic captions for live streams.
“With our live automatic speech recognition technology, you’ll get captions with error rates and latency approaching industry standards,” said YouTube in a blog post.
“We’ll roll this out in the coming weeks, and will continue to improve accuracy and latency of automatic captions.”
