Liberty Global’s Austrian unit UPC Austria has extended its footprint in the Upper Austria region by striking a deal with the local network operator in Kremsmünster, Elektro Zettl.
The agreement means that an additional 2,500 homes will be connected to UPC Austria’s network and will receive its services.
UPC has sought to expand its presence in areas of the country where it does not have a physical network by forging partnerships with local operators and this is the latest in a line of such agreements.
The agreement will see the Kremsmünster network upgraded to enable residents to receive 300Mbps internet services as well as new TV and telephony services in the spring.
Gerald Schwanzer, VP of consumer marketing at UPC, said that the operator’s partnership model represented a “win-win” for the operator and network providers in rural areas and their customers.
