Wisi is due to introduce a new broadcast platform, called Firefly, at ANGA COM, which is designed to help small and regional TV broadcasters and service providers reduce distribution costs.
The platform is a professional end-to-end solution – from playout to headend – that is designed to complement the delivery of video via satellite and dedicated lines.
While it is aimed at small broadcasters, it also has corporate TV and video applications for corporations, such as TV services for employees located abroad, and efficient distribution of training content.
It also provides options for cable network operators and enables the hospitality industry to offer additional content and video services – for example, service providers will be able to supply citizens from abroad with TV channels from their home countries that cannot be received via satellite.
The Firefly solution uses HLS for cost-effective linear TV delivery to headends over the internet. HLS is an http-based protocol that provides a robust transfer of video data streams over the web.
Wisi will exhibit at ANGA COM in hall 8a, stand R11
