Canal+ secures Cote d’Ivoire football

French pay TV operator Canal+ has secured the rights to air top-tier Cote d’Ivoire football.

The Vivendi-owned pay TV outfit has struck a deal with the West African country’s football federation to air Cote d’Ivoire Ligue 1 matches for the next five hyears.

Canal+ will broadcast the matrches on its sports channels, giving Cote D’Ivoire football visiblity across 23 African countries.

Canal+ will also provide production and financial support.

The Cote d’Ivoire Ligue 1 has 14 teams that play 260 matches during the season. leading clubs include AS Tanda and Abidjan side ASEC Mimosas.
