Tele 5 taps SES Platform Services for VoD

Fluid SES Platform ServicesGerman commercial broadcaster Tele 5 has renewed a multi-year contract with SES Platform Services to provide a range of services including editing and distributing video and metadata, such as information about license periods, pictures, trailers and brief descriptions, from live broadcasting to video-on-demand.

Tele 5’s inventory of over 8,000 hours of HD video material and over 2,000 video assets is stored in Fluid MAM – a web-based media management application developed by SES Platform Services based on cloud technology. It enables companies to digitally manage their video and metadata, before delivering the content to internet or VoD platforms. Tele 5 will use Fluid MAM to deliver more than 1,200 hours of VoD content annually, according to SES.

Christof Wegenast, commercial director and deputy CEO at Tele 5, said, “We chose SES Platform Services because it best meets our overall needs. It offers high transmission reliability, efficient tools and processes, enough flexibility for live broadcasting, and the necessary expertise for delivering content management and VOD services.”

Christoph Mühleib, vice-president sales Europe at SES Platform Services, said, “The new contract with Tele 5 is a perfect start to the new year for us. We are excited to expand our long-term partnership with Tele 5 and become its partner of choice for non-linear content distribution services too.”
