ARTE launches 360-degree video app

German and French broadcaster ARTE has launched a free, immersive video app as part of its experimentation with 360-degree video.

ARTE360 is available for iOS and Android and will give viewers access to ARTE’s latest 360-degree productions.

The firm has already partnered with Canadian production company DEEP to produce Polar Sea 360° – an immersive documentary about the changing Arctic landscape.

ARTE said that with the app, viewers will be able to choose their own perspective on content like “concerts, breathtaking landscapes or soon a flight into the stratosphere”.
