Arris-Pace deal gets Colombian clearance

ArrisArris’ planned US$2.1 billion (€1.95 billion) takeover of Pace has received unconditional merger clearance from The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce in Colombia.

This deal has already received pre-conditional clearance in Germany, South Africa, and Portugal, but is yet to pass antitrust clearance in the US and also needs to meet merger control requirements in Brazil.

Last month Arris said the Pace takeover could now be delayed until late December or early next year, but said that it continues to believe that it will be able to obtain the necessary clearances for the deal to go through – although conditions or limitations could be imposed, “which may include a divestiture”.

Arris and Pace initially agreed the deal in April.
