Discovery to launch Dplay in Benelux

Discovery is reportedly planning to launch its Dplay streaming service in the Benelux region in January.

According to Dutch media reports, the subscription video service will go live in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, offering viewers online access to more than 2,000 episodes of Discovery Channel, TLC and ID programs.
“With DPlay we serve viewers with the very best entertainment and non-fiction programming wherever and whenever they want,” Alco de Jong, VP country manager of Discovery Networks Benelux is quoted as saying.

He said the launch is in line with Discovery’s strategy of investing heavily in content and brands and using new platforms to increase its market share.

Dplay is already available in Norway and in June Discovery announced it was also launching it in Denmark, Italy and Sweden before the end of the year.
