Russian cultural channel Interesnoye TV has changed its name to Muzhskoye Kino (Men’s Movies), targeting a male audience with action, crime, sci-fi and other movies.
The channel will carry titles from local and international content providers including Warner Bros, the ВВС, Touchstone Pictures, Icon Productions, EuropaCorp, UGC YM, Integral Film and Rai Cinema.
Muzhskoye Kino is produced by Red Media, owned by Gazprom Media, and the channel is carried by Gazprom-owned pay TV operator NTV+.
Red Media general producer Irina Dogin said that there was a gap in the market for a movie channel aimed exclusively at men, featuring content “with a large dose of adrenaline and testosterone in every film”.
