US-based weather information service provider The Weather Network has launched an Android TV app, bringing weather information and forecasting to the Google platform.
According to The Weather Network, the app makes full use of the Android platform’s native features, allowing rapid discovery of detailed and personalised content.
The app comprises both a live channel and interactive app, and includes features such as IP-targeted localised forecasts, the use of PointCast technology to provide information as close as 0.6 six miles to any US zip code, forecasts up to 14 days in advance, a video clip gallery, user-submitted content, radar and traffic flow maps and voice control.
“The Weather Network is dedicated to innovation in the international weather market,” said Pierre Morrissette, chairman, president and CEO of Pelmorex Media, owner and operator of The Weather Network.
“The Android TV app showcases The Weather Network’s commitment to delivering a great consumer experience using ground-breaking over-the-top technology.”
