Belarus takes first step towards analogue shutdown

Belarus is taking a major step towards digital switchover by beginning to shut down analogue transmissions from this Sunday.

A multiplex of DVB-T channels including Belarus 1, ONT, STV and RTR-Belarus is being broadcast in MPEG-4, while state-backed telco Beltelecom is also offering its Zala TV pay TV service in the Volozhin region.
