Belarus is taking a major step towards digital switchover by beginning to shut down analogue transmissions from this Sunday.
Transmissions will cease in Volozhin in the Minsk region on Sunday. The next step will see the shutting down of analogue transmissions from Osveja in the Vitebsk region on March 10.
A multiplex of DVB-T channels including Belarus 1, ONT, STV and RTR-Belarus is being broadcast in MPEG-4, while state-backed telco Beltelecom is also offering its Zala TV pay TV service in the Volozhin region.
