A+E Networks UK launches History on Latvian IPTV

A+E Networks UK is launching History on Latvian IPTV operator Lattelecom’s network.

The channel will be available as part of Lattelecom’s basic package.

The latest move follows A+E Networks UK’s launch of History on Latvian cable operator Baltcom’s network.

Bakori Davis, VP Commercial Operations at A+E Networks UK, said: “A+E Networks UK is committed to growing our audience in the Baltic States, so we are delighted to secure distribution for History in Latvia with Lattelecom.”

Inga Alika, director, TV business division at Lattelecom, said: “We are delighted to bring History to the Lattelecom TV customers.  We strive to provide new and exciting content to our audience as part of our basic service package.”

Separately, Lattelecom has signed up to an initiative supported by the country’s National Electronic Media Council (NEPLP) and public broadcaster LTV to promote Latvian TV content production and distribution in the country.

Lattelecom has specifically called for the expansion of news coverage in the Russian language, targeting the country’s significant Russian-language minority, to provide objective news coverage from around the world, and to create a new cultural channel that caters to both Latvian and minority interests.
