Liberty Global launches Horizon in Germany

Horizon GermanyLiberty Global’s Horizon set-top launched in Germany yesterday on the Unitymedia Kabel BW networks.

Horizon is now available to Unitymedia subscribers in North Rhine Westphalia and Hesse.

The Horizon box can record up to four HDTV channels simultaneously and provides access to a wide range of web content, with a unified user experience across linear and on-demand content. Users can also access their own photos and other home media on the TV via the device. Horizon provides access to apps including Facebook, Twitter and Wikitivia, which matches content from Wikipedia to TV shows, as well as enabling the viewing of content on devices including the iPhone and iPad.

Unitymedia will launch a multiroom version of the service next year.

The operator is offering time-limited discounts on the purchase and rental price of the box.

The German launch follows Horizon’s recent launch in Ireland. The service is already available in the Netherlands and Switzerland.
