Lithuanian service provider Teo is to add Russian-language channel Baltic Channel One (PBK) to the line up of its digital-terrestrial TV service, Skaitmeninė Gala, in place of another Russian channel, Ren TV.
The move follows approval of a licence to broadcast Baltic Channel One from the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission.
Subscribers to Teo’s IPTV service, Interaktyvioji Gala, will continue to be able to watch both services. According to Teo’s own audience research PBK is the fifth ranked channel on the platform in terms of popularity.
A survey of Skaitmeninė Gala in February revealed a desire by about a quarter of respondents to see more Russian channels on the platform, with PBK emerging as a favourite.
PBK is owned by and based on Russia’s leading free-to-air channel Channel One. Shows are broadcast in Russian with Lithuanian subtitles.
