Swisscom mourns death of CEO Carsten Schloter

Swisscom is mourning the loss of its CEO Carsten Schloter, who was found dead at his home yesterday from a suspected suicide.

Schloter joined Swisscom in 2000 as head of Swisscom Mobile and took the CEO role in 2006. He will be replaced on an interim basis by deputy CEO Urs Schäppi.

“The board of directors, group executive board and the entire workforce are deeply saddened and pass on their condolences to the family and relatives,” said Swisscom’s chairman of the board Hansueli Loosli.

An investigation into the exact circumstances of Schloter’s death is underway, though the police are treating it as a suicide. Further details were not disclosed out of consideration for his family, Swisscom said in a statement.
