US cloud DVR service Boxee has been acquired and is due to announce details of the deal this week, according to a report by tech site VentureBeat.
The news follows an All Things D story last week, claiming that the web TV firm has been seeking a buyer or looking to raise “a big investment round” since hiring financial advisor Allen and Co in February.
Boxee has not commented on the reports, which both cite unnamed sources.
However, speaking at a conference in London last month, Boxee’s senior director of business development Ryan Troy said that Boxee’s recently revamped service, which aims to bring together broadcast TV channels, DVR and internet apps into one simple experience, was now live in nine US markets with the firm aiming to roll out to more cities.
