The number of digital TV connections in the Netherlands climbed by 1.8% in the fourth quarter to 6.375 million, accounting for 82% of the country’s TV subscribers, according to new stats.
The Telecompaper quarterly Dutch Television Subscribers report said that Ziggo was the largest TV operator at the end of 2012 – both in the total TV market and the digital TV market – followed by KPN, UPC and CanalDigitaal.
It also noted that though the adoption of IPTV over DSL and FTTH is growing, 57.3% of digital TV subscribers received their digital TV services via cable networks in Q4.
Telecompaper predicts the Dutch digital TV market will grow 7.5% this year, and said that total retail revenue for the consumer TV market in the Netherlands last quarter was €372 million in Q4.
