Mixed performance for professional flat panel market

The global flat panel professional display market saw 1.1 million units shipped in the fourth quarter of last year, falling 4.6% quarter-on-quarter but growing 7.18% year-on-year, according to research by Futuresource Consulting.

In EMEA, excluding Turkey the region saw double-digit growth, with Middle Eastern and African markets turning in a strong performance. Elsewhere, China saw a 28% quarter-on-quarter drop after a couple of strong quarters.

The market in 2012 saw a dramatic increase in the number of LED lit professional displays in the market, with full-year sales reaching 352,000 units, which accounted for 21.3% of LCD sales, up from 4.7% in 2011, according to Futuresource. However, the pure professional display market saw a downturn, dropping 14.4% quarter-on-quarter.
