Alcatel-Lucent has announced that it is working with Bulgarian telco Vivacom to deploy GPON fibre networks to about one million Bulgarian households.
Vivacom plans to deliver 100Mbps internet access via the GPON network to subscribers in Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv this year, with other cities to follow.
Bernard Moscheni, Vivacom CEO said: “Vivacom is successfully implementing its programme for network development, focused on guaranteeing a better customer experience as well as supporting Bulgaria in meeting its commitments to the European Union. Our partnership with Alcatel-Lucent – one of the leaders in this domain – will enable us to improve our product and services offerings to our customers.”
