African Movie Channel to launch on African DTT network

The African Movie Channel (AMC) has struck a carriage deal with African DTT operator StarTimes.

The UK-based broadcaster will launch on the DTT network in August, making it available to 13 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Guo Ziqi, vice-president of StarTimes, said, “AMC has impressed us immensely with its professionalism and its undisputed ability to aggregate the best African movies, and we are very excited to be entering into this partnership with AMC to provide content that resonates very strongly with our subscribers.”

AMC launched in April 2006 as an on-demand service in the UK on the Homechoice pay TV platform. The broadcaster debuted its 24-hour linear TV channel in May 2011.
