BT Vision subs base tops 700,000

BT Vision added 28,000 new customers in the first quarter of 2012 the year taking its subscriber base over 700,000 for the first time.

The subscriber additions to the IPTV service were less than in the seasonally strong quarter to end December when 39,000 new subs signed up, but BT Vision customer ARPU has hit a high and was £343 (€426) in the first three months of 2012 (BT’s fourth financial quarter).

There are now 717,000 BT Vision customers and BT has added content from Miramax and UKTV to the service this year.

By way of comparison, BSkyB only added 15,000 TV customers in the first quarter, but has over 10 million TV subs. Cabler Virgin Media added 50,600 pay TV subs in the first quarter, which took its TV subs base to 3.8 million.
