Telefónica increased its pay TV subscriber base by 18.7% last year, ending December with a total of 3.3 million subscribers.
In its home market of Spain, the telco added 29,000 pay TV customers in the fourth quarter to end the year with a total of 833,000 an increase of 6% year-on-year.
Elsewhere in Europe, Telefónica’s Czech business ended the year with 136,000 pay TV subscribers, up from 129,000 at the end of 2010. In Germany, its pay TV subscriber base increased 8% to 83,300.
Telefónica’s largest pay TV markets are in Latin America. It increased its pay TV customer base in the region by 25% last year to a total of 2.3 million.
