Iran launches Spanish channel

Iran has launched a Spanish-language international TV channel, according to local reports.

The country’s Fars news agency said that the channel, Hispan TV, was now available 24 hours a day. Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has recently sought to strengthen Iran’s ties with Latin American countries including Venezuela.

Iran currently broadcasts English-language channel Press TV, which recently lost its UK licence to broadcast.
