YouSee launches first online HD channel

Danish cable operator YouSee is launching an HD online TV channel DRHD, its first movie into distribution of an HD service on the web, and five new standard definition web TV channels.

The channel is distributed in the same 720p resolution as its HD channels on TV, but at the lower bitrate of 2.5Mbps, compared to 9Mbps for the TV version.

In addition to DRHD, YouSee is now offering TV2 Sport, Disney Junior and TLC on the web TV service, with TNT7 and BBC Lifestyle to follow in February.

YouSee would like to add Viasat channels TV3 Plus and TV3 Puls to the online service, but has so far been unable to agree terms with Modern Times Group.
