Eutelsat suspends Roj TV for Kurdish terrorist links

Eutelsat has suspended the Roj TV channel on its satellites due to its alleged connection to terrorist group the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

The decision comes after Denmark’s Court of Copenhagen recently ruled that Roj TV had financial, structural and operational ties to the PKK. It declared the channel was guilty of facilitating and inciting participation in a terrorist organisation. The PKK is listed by the EU as a terrorist organization.

“Under these circumstances, Eutelsat has decided to suspend the presence of Roj TV on its satellites in order to avoid incurring criminal liability as an accomplice to terrorist activities,” the satellite operator said in a statement.

Eutelsat has asked distributors uplinking Roj TV to its satellites to suspend broadcasts of the channel.
