YouView poaches Sky architect

YouView, the online joint venture streaming service, has hired Sky executive Chris Bramley as chief technology officer.

Bramley was previously chief architect at BSkyB and lead the company’s Sky Anytime, Sky Player and Sky Go initiatives. YouView is a joint venture between the BBC, ITV, Channel 5, Channel 5, BT, TalkTalk and Arqiva and is expected to launch in early 2012 with its subscription free service that combines digital TV with catch up services and VOD.

“Chris has proven his technology leadership through delivering innovative new services into UK homes,” said Richard Halton, CEO of YouView. “He has the right expertise to lead YouView’s technical team through launch and to support the future growth of the platform. I am delighted to welcome him on-board.”
