ActiveVideo claims victory in patent case
US-based video technology company ActiveVideo Networks has been awarded damages of US$115 million (€81 million) in a patent infringement lawsuit against telco Verizon.
A jury in the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia found that Verizon had infringed four of ActiveVideo’s patents covering interactive TV services such as video-on-demand. ActiveVideo specializes in cloud-based delivery of VOD and interactive TV. Its CloudTV platform is currently deployed with cable operators including Cablevision.
