US cord-cutters expected to pass 12 million by 2015

About 12.1 million US homes, representing about 10% of TV households, will use over-the-top TV instead of mainstream pay TV services by 2015, according to a report by SNL Kagan.

This figure represents growth from about 2.5 million homes that “cut the cord” by the end of 2010 and an estimated 4.5 million that will use internet-based TV services instead of cable or satellite pay TV services by the end of this year.
