â¨CTC Media has inked a deal with Hollywood studio Paramount Pictures that will see its Kazakhstan-based channel Channel 31 air a raft of blockbuster movies.
The deal is the first output deal signed between a Kazakhstani broadcaster and a US studio. Channel 31, which was relaunched in 2008 following its purchase by the Russian broadcaster, will air movies including Transformers, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider as well as Marvel’s Iron Man and Dreamworks Animation’s Madagascar. â¨
Nurzhan Mukhamedzhanova, general director, Channel 31, said: “All major TV channels have exclusive agreements with world-leading motion-picture companies. The signing of such a contract gives us huge competitive advantages and uniquely positions us as the first TV channel in Kazakhstan that has the rights to show the latest productions and the most popular movies from Paramount.”â¨
