UPC Horizon Primed For July Soft-Launch

Liberty Global says it will test launch its new cable set-top box UPC Horizon in Europe from July. Speaking to the Denver Business Journal, CEO and President Mike Fries said the state-of-the-art box would bring together television and Internet content in a way that surpasses existing technology in both Europe and the US.

Confident that Horizon can win new business, Fries said the box would be soft-launched by UPC Nederland in July before moving to wider distribution in September.
The Horizon box, manufactured by Samsung, will be able to find and stream internet content on a TV as well as sending rich content to other devices in the home. It will operate with the NDS Snowflake user interface.
