Online TV platform provider Brightcove has launched a new content app platform that enables customers to build and operate native apps and websites for Apple iOS and Google Android smartphones and tablet devices.
App Cloud combines an open HTML5-based development model with cloud services for cross-platform compilation, automated app distribution, analytics, advertising and connectors for content management systems and other cloud services, which Brightcove said makes app development and management more efficient and cost effective.
Brightcove has also introduced a new name for the companys online video platform, Brightcove Video Cloud. The App Cloud and Video Cloud now comprise a suite of cloud content services that media companies and marketers can use to publish and distribute professional digital content.
ÂDelivering content apps across fragmented devices forces publishers to choose between redundant one-off app development and cookie-cutter templates, said Jeremy Allaire, Brightcove chairman and CEO. ÂApp Cloud offers a new alternative with a platform that significantly streamlines the development and management of custom content apps across devices.Â
