Czech broadcaster to test HbbTV

Czech public broadcaster Ceska Televize and set-top manufacturer Antik Technology have teamed up to deliver a HbbTV trial in the Czech Repbublic.

The pilot will be developed, hosted and tested on Slovak telco Antik Telecom’s network. It will be available to 40,000 custiomers, Antik said, before testing is carried out in the Czech Republic.

The HbbTV service will enable Czech Television to offer supplementary content and services, including archive content, video streaming and regional programmes. During the testing phase, HbbTV services will be delivered over broadband to Antik Technology‘s Juice set-top boxes.

“HbbTV is a great example of an effective interactive service enhancement and it is becoming an accepted standard throughout Europe, so we are proud to help Ceska Televize to deploy this service,” said Igor Kolla, ANTIK Technology’s CEO.
