UPC Austria must block movie download site

Austrian anti-piracy and movie distributor group VAP has won a preliminary injunction against UPC Telekabel, which means the MSO must stop its subscribers from  accessing the www.kino.to website.

The Austrian Association for Anti Piracy claims the site, which is extremely popular, allows illegal streaming and downloads of feature films.
VAP had unsuccessfully attempted to close the site directly, but was unable to ascertain who owns and operates the Russian-hosted service.

UPC defended its position and said it is not the role of ISPs to control the content their customers view. It is expected to appeal the court decision.
