Argos launches TV channel

UK home retailer Argos is launching a TV shopping channel as it enters the £750 million (€845 million) UK TV shopping market for the first time.

Argos, which is owned by parent company Home Retail Group, has struck a deal with pay TV operator Sky to lease the channel for a one-year trial. This comes as Argos announced its latest financial results.


“This is a cost-effective and low-risk way for Argos to trial TV shopping,” said Argos chief executive Terry Duddy. “Our focus on operational excellence and further investment in our multichannel leadership has delivered a solid performance and enabled us to gain or hold market share in our businesses.”
