Ziggo continues subs and revenue growth

Ziggo continued to grow its subscriber base and revenue in the first quarter of 2011. The Dutch telco saw particular success in its plan to migrate analogue customers to digital, adding 111,000 digital subs during the quarter to a total of 1,915,000. The number of paid digital TV subs also increased, by 24,000 to 921,000.

Ziggo said the number of triple-play subscribers was also increasing. The operator ended March with 1,139,000 All-in-one bundle customers after increasing its triple-play customer base by 45,000 during the quarter. At the end of March Ziggo had a total of 6.8 million RGUs, an increase of 4.9% year-on-year.

“Ziggo continued its growth in the first quarter of 2011, demonstrating the strength of our strategy and operations. With new innovations for our television offering, increased internet speeds for our customers and our continued focus on further improving our customer service, we are convinced we will strengthen our position in the consumer market and exploit its considerable further growth potential in the year ahead,” said Ziggo CEO Bernard Dijkhuizen.

First quarter revenue was up 6.5% year-on-year to €360.9 million. EBITDA increased 5% to €205.2 million.
